By-Laws of the 4th Infantry Regiment Veteran’s Association

ARTICLE I
The name of this organization shall be the
4th Infantry Regiment Veteran’s Association.
ARTICLE II – PURPOSE
The purpose of the 4th Infantry Regiment Veteran’s Association is to perpetuate the history and comradeship of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army. The Association is dedicated to the preservation of the history and traditions of the 4th Infantry Regiment. Our focus is and remains to link together those that have served and those that are serving within the Regiment to form an everlasting bond of friendship within the Warrior community. Our motto is Noli Me Tangere!
ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP
Active – any person shall be eligible for membership who has served honorably in the 4th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army honorably or successor unit during peacetime or war. Only active members shall hold office or vote.
ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS
President – the President shall conduct Association business as required throughout the year, preside at the meetings of the Association and Executive Committee, appoint committees, call special meetings, conduct liaison between the Association and Active Duty units, update the HCOR/HCSMOR on Association business.
Vice-President – the Vice President shall preside in the absence of the President and succeed to the office of President in case of a vacancy.
Secretary – the Secretary/Treasurer shall keep the permanent records of the Association, maintain the membership records, notify the membership of the time and place of meetings.
Treasurer – the Treasurer shall receive and disburse funds, keeping accurate records of the same, and make an annual report to the Association.
Historian – the Historian shall be the custodian of all records obtainable of the 4th Infantry Regiment and successor units.
Executive Committee – the Executive Committee shall consist of the appointed members of the Association and shall advise the Association in conducting business as required.
ARTICLE V – ELECTIONS
Election – no member shall be elected to office without the member’s consent. In case a member is nominated to office and the member is not present at the meeting, the sponsor must have written consent to place the member’s name before the Association for election.
Elections for officers will take place at the Association meeting during the Reunions. The term of office will be from 1 October – 30 September.
ARTICLE VI – COMMITTEES
The President shall appoint committees as deemed necessary.
ARTICLE VII – MEETINGS AND DUES
Annual meeting – there will be an annual meeting of all officers of the Association.
Dues – members will pay dues as established by a simple majority of the membership at the Association meeting held during the Reunion. Members will be considered active if they have paid dues for the current year.
Quorum – a quorum will consist of those members present at any official meetings of the Association.
ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS
These By-Laws may be amended by two-thirds vote of the members present at any officially called meeting of the Association.
